(Sorry, I lost every tech knowledge I had. I now that might be frustrating for you but believe me, it is 100x more frustrating for me. Authentication (such as 2FA or MFA) relies on three types of credentials. Think of it like opening a secure door. You can prove who you are using:

Imagine you have a secret treehouse. To get inside, you have to prove it's really you.

First, you whisper the secret password through the door slot (something you know).

Only when you give the password AND show your physical badge does the door unlock. If a intruder overhears your password, they still can't get in because they don't have your badge.

Not all "second keys" are created equal:

SMS Code: You get a code sent to your phone number. Least secure, because hackers can intercept text messages or hijack your phone number (SIM swapping).

Email Code: Slightly better than SMS, but if an attacker already compromised your email account, they can easily read the code.

Authenticator App (Google, Microsoft, 2FAS, Ente, etc.): Much more secure. The app generates a temporary 6-digit code locally on your phone every 30 seconds—it doesn't rely on text messages or open email networks.
