jcrispimromao It is really difficult to have a notion of how much we are influenced by the American way of life. We , Europeans, have let them influence our society since the end of the second world war. In Portugal is was a bit later, maybe in the end of the 60's, beginning of the 70's. When I was a child at school my first foreign language was French not English. English was my second foreign language learnt at school. Now, French lost all it's importance which is ridiculous because we are europeans and we should accept French as a much more proximal way of living. But since the 70's of last century we have been completely influenced by the USA. Movies on TV and Theaters are almos all american; there are no french or german or british programmes on tv anymore. They are either portuguese or american. Only by realizing this will we be able to cut all the links from such an individual and sick society. I don't know what you think about this, but I would love to listen to other different points of view so that I could compare them.

It's exactly how I feel about the United Kingdom.
It's like living in the Netherlands, but we also cycle a lot (many Dutch people cycle to work, school, shops, the gym, friends, etc.)
