Humble pear tree flowers!

Blooming cherry tree flowers!

My first home-made bread, done with my home-made sour dough! Delicious! Now I make cottage cheese, ioghurt, several types of jams with my own fruits and home-made sour dough bread. It should be taught in schools!

Catha I make my own bread too, but with the help of a machine. And yogur in the same machine..
I don't know if it is usefull to learn those things at school. How many people have the time to make all those things at home? Plus, not everybody has their own fruit trees, so yhat makes it more expensive. I make apple sauce, but because i don't want added sugar, but then it's almost 3x more expensive than the one in the supermarket.
I also am wecking food, but only because i have the time to do it since i can't work anymore.

jcrispimromao Hello, @Catha
Well it all depends on what you value most! Food in its diverse aspects represents cultural habits in all societies. These are things that have been done since immemorial times. And I take pleasure in learning how to make them.
In my case, I am retired already but I have bought a land where I built my house so that I could come here and spend time leading a slow life after retirement.
Making Yoghurt, cottege cheese, jams or bread are things that do not take that much time if you organize things. I tend to do everything manually if I can. No Bimbies or such household appliances. The only machine I use is for yoghurt because without it, it would take much longer and would be more difficult.
I also have a kitchen yard where I grow vegetables , tomates, cucumbers and aromatic plants to use in food. I have chickens for natural eggs, as well.
Our complex society has led us to forget everything about nature and our relationship with what is natural. That's what I try to do. Keep in touch with what is natural.
But I also can understand that this objective is very difficult for most people, mainly those who have been living in cities for a long time.

Catha Ii don't think it is as smple as what to value most.
