📢 RECRUITMENT DRIVE: Freelance Stocktakers (Licensed Trade Specialists)

Moorlands Pub Company Limited is expanding its professional services division and is immediately seeking experienced Freelance Stocktakers with a proven background in the licensed trade.

As we launch our dedicated stocktaking arm, we need precision, speed, and industry knowledge. If you understand the unique challenges of pub and bar inventory—from draft lines and cellar temperatures to back-bar spirits and dry goods—we want to hear from you.

🎯 THE ROLE
You will be responsible for conducting accurate, efficient, and compliant stocktakes for pubs, bars, and licensed venues across the region. Your work ensures our clients maintain optimal inventory levels, reduce waste, and maximize profitability.

📋 KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Comprehensive Inventory Counting: Accurately count and record all stock levels, including spirits, wines, beers, ciders, soft drinks, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Draft Line & Cellar Management: Measure remaining volumes in kegs, barrels, and casks using appropriate gauging equipment; assess cellar conditions and temperature logs.
Back-Bar & Dry Store Audits: Conduct detailed counts of bottled stock, mixers, garnishes, and dry goods stored in back-bars and storage areas.
Waste & Spillage Analysis: Identify and record instances of spillage, breakage, or wastage, providing context for variance reports.
Variance Reporting: Compare physical stock against theoretical usage (POS data) to highlight discrepancies and potential shrinkage issues.
Data Entry & Digital Reporting: Input data accurately into our proprietary stock management software or digital tablets in real-time.
Compliance Checks: Ensure stock storage adheres to health and safety regulations and licensing requirements.
Client Liaison: Communicate findings professionally to venue managers, highlighting urgent reorder needs or critical stock issues.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all measuring tools (gauges, scales, scanners) are calibrated and maintained during shifts.

👤 WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Licensed Trade Experience: Essential. You must have prior experience working in a pub, bar, or hotel environment.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with standard drink measures, keg types, bottle sizes, and cellar management.
Numeracy Skills: High attention to detail with strong mathematical abilities for rapid calculation.
Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy crates, climb ladders, and work in cellars or confined spaces.
Reliability: Punctual, self-motivated, and able to work independently, often during late-night or early-morning shifts.
Tech Savvy: Comfortable using handheld devices, tablets, and stock management apps.

💼 WORKING ARRANGEMENTS

Freelance/Contract Basis: Work on a per-job or per-week basis.
Flexible Hours: Shifts often occur outside standard trading hours (late nights/early mornings) to minimize disruption to venue operations.

Regional Coverage: Opportunities available across The United Kingdom.

🍺 SAVE OUR PUBS – SAVE OUR COMMUNITIES 🍺

Across Britain, community pubs are disappearing at an alarming rate — with almost TWO pubs a day closing so far in 2026.
When a pub closes, communities lose far more than just a place to eat or drink. We lose local jobs, meeting places, support networks, history, and the heart of our towns and villages.

That’s why we’re launching a community-led campaign to help save threatened rural and community pubs before they are lost forever.

Our mission is to:
🏡 Protect community pubs from closure
🤝 Create inclusive spaces for everyone
💼 Support local jobs and apprenticeships
📚 Provide hospitality training opportunities
❤️ Reinvest back into local communities

We believe pubs should once again become thriving community hubs — places where people connect, celebrate, support one another, and belong.

This is about preserving local heritage, strengthening communities, and building a sustainable future for the next generation.

We need your support.

Please join the campaign, donate if you can, and share this post to help us spread the word.

Together, we can save our pubs. 🍻
