France has been on a roller coaster of political problems since 2024; why is it it only with the recent student riots that it's starting to get much international news coverage?
I was watching a video of a Swede who does cultural comparisons. While visiting Florida she said Walmart was the largest store she's ever seen. Are IKEA's smaller is home country of Sweden? Because here in america an IKEA store is more than twice the size of an average Walmart
As an american and also a history nerd I'd like to share how our politics got here: decline in trust in government actually started back in the 60s with Vietnam and Watergate and was accelerated by the Iraq fallout and 2008 recession. trump exploited this distrust. This is similar to how the aftermath of WWI and later global spread of the Great Depression gave hitler his window opportunity in the 30s. It comes down to people expecting simple immediate solutions to complex problems. i don't think most people here even see the deeper institutional weaknesses, but I'm a history nerd so I like to look at the details and complexity of things
If Britain and France drive on different sides of the road, how do you drive the Channel Tunnel from one to the other? Its sounds pretty hard to do without a collision.

When you exit the train in France, the ramp naturally feeds you onto the right side of the road (and vice versa when arriving in the UK), meaning you never have to play chicken with oncoming traffic
I just got back from a two night camping trip. I took some wildlife photography with my Nikon, mostly geese and ducks but also a heron, but this site won't upload them. They are JPGs, and I thought it was just the heic ones that didn't upload. I'm not a computer geek, so I was wondering if anyone knows why

As just one example Northern Illinois has a lot more than Chicago - Hurricane Harbor water park, Six Flags Great America, hiking trails, Rock Cut State Park, Woodstock Opera House, Three Oaks Recreation Area, Woodfield Mall
I'm sharing this example as a resident who not only has little reason to see the city but also hates cities and actively avoids it, however I feel like it's part of a bigger pattern in the tourism industry. What do you think?

But we visit Zimbabwe and stay in the rural area, on the countryside where there is 'nothing': no wildlife, no Victoria Falls and luxury resort. As one of the teachers from Durlstoneschool said"thi is the ugliest part of the country. But I think it is beautifull. There is nature, rock's, great views and wonderfull people.
Yes, someday we may do the touristic things. But I hope more people will look beyond the touristic places too!

Most tourists don't understand that it's not about not wanting tourists but about "too much is doing more (to much) harm than any good". We've had 6 times more tourists last year than all residents together.
Try to figure that much people in your own town/city/country and then think again..

jcrispimromaoWell, I was to the states twice! Back in 1978, traveled around for a whole month, and satyed in Chicago for a while. And then again in March 2001, a few months before the 9/11. But now I wouldn´t think of visiting the country not even if I was to be paid! 😇
